Currently, I am in Albania in a small city named Fier. The ministry here is putting on VBS for the kids. It has been so much fun to come alongside the World Race team “the Strudels” and share the gospel with these kiddos!

The VBS schedule usually consists of starting all together with some games!

Then we move into a time of worship and dancing.

All week we had them working on memorizing a Bible verse and they would practice every day. If they memorized it by the end of the week they got a prize!

Next we share a story from the Bible with them. I had so much fun acting the stories out!

Finally we break off into small groups and write prayers in our prayer journals.

Oh and of course there are snacks!

This was a particularly special time for me on the Race. Once again, I was reminded of the power of God’s word. To watch the kids shout their Bible verse and think about how it was being hidden in their hearts moved me to tears almost every time.

Another moment that really impacted me was the day the story of Jesus dying on the cross for us was told to the kids. One of the girls on my team told the story while some of the rest of us got to act it out. I got to play Mary discovering the tomb was empty!

Watching and listening to the story and seeing all the kids there brought me back to the time that I became a Christian. I remember so vividly at 7 years old, sitting in a room full of other kids, listening to this same story. I remember feeling so strongly that the Lord did what He did for me because He loves me. How could I not want to know Him? So when they asked if anyone wanted to pray to know the Lord of course I jumped up to go to the altar and pray!

When we finished telling the story to the kids here in Albania, they asked if any of them wanted to pray to have a relationship with Jesus. All of the kids stepped up to pray. Sure it’s easy to be skeptical and say they’re just kids, they don’t understand or know what they are doing. But I know the impact that Jesus had on a seven year old girl twenty years ago and I believe the Lord could be impacting them in the same way!

It was such a sweet time. I’m really grateful to have been a part of it and for the reminder of the time that I started my relationship with the Lord. I can’t wait to see how the Lord continues to move during the rest of our time in Albania!
